AFF, for when all you want is social media in plain English

There are so many acronyms and buzzwords floating around in the world of new media. I should know, I am 3 months into my new social media job and I am still learning them. It was this or Mandarin Chinese. I chose social media because I thought it would be easier...

Ha.

I am learning that most of these acronyms don't mean anything special, and, that most of the people who sprinkle them so liberally into sales, marketing and advertising pitches seem to over-index on my list of people I want to punch in the face. That said, I am finding that I actually like (and use) some of the technology.

Though I probably know more than your standard-fare hipster about this stuff, I'm still learning, and I'm certainly no expert. Feel free to join me and a few of my friends every Friday for a humorous, brief, BS-free jaunt through social media. Check back here every Friday, or send us an email (acronymfreefridays AT gmail DOT com) and we'll send you our latest.

We promise to:

1) Try to make you laugh (keyword: try);
2) Not dupe you into hearing a sales pitch (we'll tell you way far in advance if we ever decide to be total sellouts and hawk our own stuff. Just kidding, we'd never do that to you. You know, tell you.);
3) Not use acronyms

See you on Friday.
